Haven't been able to update these past 2 weeks cos Steffi has been here and we've been bringing her around Singapore. It's been a great experience, cos I got to see parts of Singapore that I haven't seen in eons or have never actually been to in my whole life, like Changi village or Katong. We explored Little India and Bugis Village. I went on a major shopping spree. Have everything from new bags to new clothes etc. All the stuff were pretty good bargains, like this belt I got for $15. This guy warned us about people in Orchard Road who try to pass it off as some expensive, handmade piece, when in actual fact, they are handmade but not by them...and they jack up the price immensely. This other guy was trying to sell the same things for like $30. My foot ah! What cheats some businessmen are! He claimed to like my earrings. Was gonna say that I paid a total of $2 for them, but decided to keep my mouth shut.
I tried Roti John for the first time. Quite liked it. Shared it with Steffi and my mummy. It's great sometimes to have guests over. You discover there's a lot more to your own country/town than you realised.
I worked for 4 days last week, at Career 2005, which was a major misnomer. It was like 2/3 education and not much of the rest were really companies looking for potential employees. SPH, for example, was there to sell subscriptions. Stupid hor? Well, to be honest, the job for the DAAD was easy enough. But I hated, after 3 days, to have to answer the same old questions, the top 3 list being: "Do I need to know German?", "Is studying in Germany free?" and "What are the top universities for (insert subject)?". Sian diao man. And some people were downright RUDE!
The fun part was when people recognized me from TV. One girl insisted I was on MTV. Huh? And this other guy said that he made it a point to catch the show every week. The cutest ones though were the little kids...so shy, most of them! So cute!! This waiter at a restaurant in the Botanic Gardens asked if I was in "Backpackers"..haha! Well, it was fun actually. I didn't think that anyone would actually notice me. But I guess if they talked to me, they'd have more time to see if I was really the one. These guys were whispering...then they walked away and came back to ask me if I was the one on TV. Haha. My 15 minutes of fame I guess? Don't worry. I'm still me.
Today, I finally watched an episode of The Big Unknown 2 for the first time. I think it's really not bad. I wish I'd started watching earlier. I mean, ok, I did silly things and sometimes the lighting made me look quite gross, but the show in general is really worth watching. I think. It's very colourful and everyone's so different. I'm not just saying it cos I was in it. Honest. I hate watching myself. But I have to admit, it's not as bad as I thought.
I actually have lots to say, but somehow I don't feel like it anymore. Dunno why.
I wanna stay in Singapore longer...*pout* there's more to do here and most of my friends are here! Sigh. I shall go cry and mourn. Though there are some reasons why I'd wanna go back to Germany. Not many though.
