Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

I suppose I haven't properly blogged in a long long while. In Germany I was busy with my homework and getting acquainted with someone. Now that I'm back, I've been going out, attempting to do homework and well, just while-ing the days away. Heart's beating much faster now that I realise how lazy I've been with regard to my homework!

boy have I got a lot to complain about. Tiff and I were at the Garfield premiere and there was this freak and his girlfriend or his friend's girlfriend who went around switching the potato chips in the goodie bags. Have no idea what the heck they were doing, considering there was only 3 flavours, so like what the heck will randomly switching them around do? I'd be damn pissed if I found some weirdo messing around with my goodie bag! And well, he and that chick talked to some Americans...with their bloody FAKE-O American accents...how can I tell it's fake? Well it sounds so inconsistent! I'm doing my term paper on this...fake accents and the question of prestige. But you know, it's times like these I'm embarrassed to be from the same country as that FREAK potato chip exchanger! As for the movie, well, I liked it. Although most people I've spoken to beg to differ. Oh well, to each his own. It isn't a terribly original movie, but I think it's still nice as a movie in itself. Why do we always expect innovation and stuff?

Another thing I wanna complain about is the CRAP service at the Jean Yip Hair Academy. That was the worst service attitude I've ever seen! The receptionist asked in a bored and totally apathetic voice, "What do you want?' Then she told us (Shermaine and me) that we had to wait. When we got in there though, we saw lots of people just slacking there in the seats. Then like it took so long to get people to cut out hair. The worst part however, was the fact that they didn't even say they were finished with me...the lady just walked away. I was only sure that she was done, was when she came and unplugged the hairdryer without a word. You can be sure that they won't be getting any of my money, though Sherry claims they were nice to her. Bloody idiotic lookists. Just cos someone isn't pretty or dressed in gorgeous clothes is no f***ing excuse to treat them like shit, esp if you're taking their money.

What else? Well, I think I've really gotta watch my mouth or I'm gonna win myself lots of enemies. While filming for the Big Unknown today, I accidentally made the generalisation that German students sometimes speak up in class without using their brains. I think I said that without using MY brain. Not all of them are like that...just a very small handful. I sincerely hope they edit it out in post-production! But you can't control that kinda thing, I realised. The media's dead powerful and they decide what THEY wanna do. Take that article in the Straits Times yesterday, about "The Overseas Experience"...they interviewed me for it..but I ended up being misquoted and sounding like a bimbo without knowledge of the facts of Germany's history. 3-4 of my sentences were shortened into ONE sentence..which doesn't hold true actually. For example, the sentence that Germany's buildings all have a history (like duh, which building doesn't) because it was a socialist state, was really: "The old buildings in Dresden have such interesting histories behind them. (Like the Zwinger, Semperoper etc. from the Wettina dynasty) There's lots of construction in Dresden, because during the socialist period in the former East Germany, people didn't want to rebuild churches and similar buildings. So these old historical buildings were only restored only after the Berlin Wall came down." So maybe I'm not quoting my exact words...but the content is about the same as what I said. Sigh...can you imagine how distorted it got? It sounds like the whole of Germany was socialist and that the buildings are important because of this socialist period...which is, as you can see, totally WRONG! The buildings were before the GDR time in Germany! Sigh. Plus, they said I was 21...hello, since when did I age a year? Sure, there're some R21 shows I'd like to watch, but I don't wanna sacrifice one year of my life so easily. Oh well...no wonder the stars always complain about being misquoted. I see how easy it is now.

I have lots of complaints, don't I? But that's just me. Samantha the complainer. The other thing I wanna complain about is...hmm...oh yeah..how people are not punctual anymore. What is their problem man...now that we have handphones, we think we have a right to be late cos we can call people to inform them. let me tell you this...since we're giving these people this right, then not calling us to tell us they'll be late is even more disgusting! I HATE PEOPLE WHO ARE CHRONICALLY LATE!! I mean it's ok to be late if something crops up and all...and I have my late days too...but if you're late 5 out of 10 times, I think you have a problem...if you're late 10 out of 10 times...you're just f***ing wasting my time. Esp if you don't even bother to send an SMS. People who are punctual impress me. It's so gonna be a pre-requisite for all my future boyfriends. I won't tolerate chronically late guys or girls. I'm no no-lifer with nothing to do by sit around waiting for you. If you don't show up on time, I have other plans too.

I've watched Six Strong Men and The Bourne Supremacy these 3 days. I think Andy Hui's really cute!! Sigh. Some men look so good despite their age. The Bourne Supremacy wasn't as bad as I thought...despite my initial misgivings. I'll give The Bourne Identity a second chance. It put me to sleep the first time I watched it, see.

I'm kinda broke. I splurged $73 on a dress from Topshop. But I really like it a lot. It's black and I can wear it out for a night out, or at home as a sexy nightdress (haha!). Still I think it's a worthwhile investment. I don't usually spend so much on one piece of clothing. Only for shoes do I spend so much (well, more really) but I don't buy many shoes...like how many do you need? Just get those that are versatile enough to go with most of the stuff you own.

I'm in a dilemma right now. Can't really explain it, cos some of the details are too intimate. But well, I'll just say that some things would be perfect, if not for the crappy timing. Timing is a critical factor in many aspects of our lives. Like say you've been craving a banana split for days. But just when you're full to bursting point with dinner, someone comes to you with a banana split. Although you've been craving for it for days, you can't say a right out yes to it, cos you know you'll feel sick afterwards. But you don't wanna say no, cos it's something you've wanted for so long and now it's finally sitting in your lap. So what do you do? I can't decide, really. Or another scenario. You've been craving banana splits (let's just use the same example since I love banana splits) for a LOOOONG time. Then one day, someone offers you one. You gobble it up, full of excitement. You expect to be satisfied...but instead, you're just craving more and more banana splits, cos they taste so good! So if you have the chance to get more, you'd just binge on them till your stomach hurts like crazy. Not an ideal situation either. Sigh. Yes, what rubbish am I talking about? Well, these are just analogies for 2 issues that are bothering me right now. I can't tell you what, but maybe you can take a guess.

Ok, better sleep now. Hope someone'll leave comments...haven't seen any in ages on my Blog.
