Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

Hmm...I don't know what to say about the new Blogger format. I guess all I can say is that it's rather different, apart from the colours. Still, I'll get used to it I guess.

I watched Troy last night. At first we thought we couldn't get tickets cos it was, after all, opening night. But we were there early enough and since they had 2 screenings at about the same time, we managed to get pretty okay seats. I am reminded of the time I watched LOTR from the corner of the second row in the cinema...now that was a real torture! Okay, so what did I think of the film? Well, I liked it. I love epics. But somehow, I didn't end up some raving fan. Maybe it was too brutal. Maybe it was too sad. But one thing's for sure. War is EVIL! If so much destruction was caused in a "bows and arrows, swords and shields" war, I can barely deign to think about wars with automatic machine guns and WMD. TRAGIC!

I suppose Orlando Bloom must be really good at using a bow and arrow now. First LOTR and now Troy. He looks better as Legolas. He looks pretty ordinary otherwise, even though he was some sorta boyish charm.

As for Brad Pitt, well, I must say that he still looks gorgeous in spite of his age. It was worth watching the film just to see him.

Eric Bana's acting was great too. But he has disproportionately skinny legs! I mean if you look at his broad shoulders and muscles and all that, then you look at his legs, you'd wonder how he was able to carry himself around on them. He's good though.

Well, this film really belonged to the men. The women seemed more ornamental than anything else. They look pretty, but that's it.

What really made me enjoy the film was the setting. The sea was so gorgeously blue...just like their clothes (the non-fighting outfits). The city of Troy was really grand looking too.

I won't give any plot summary, cos I think most people know the Iliad story already...or they wouldn't want me to spoil the fun, so I just gave my superficial evaluation of the movie.

Going out again tonight. Have not done a speck of homework for the entire week since Monday. Been busy going out or doing stuff. Sigh. Got 3 essays to complete. It means I have to lock myself in this weekend to do them, along with the rest of the other homework. People say that I'm hardworking..true, I've never cared so much about completing all my homework before, but it doesn't mean that I'm benefitting from it or anything. I'm still my same old self...except all I ever talk about now is homework. I've become BORING, not smarter. Sigh.
