Back in Dresden finally!

It's been a week of total SLACKING since I came back. I was over in Munich at Max's place. I think I didn't leave the house at all from Friday night till Saturday evening. His mum joked that we were real lazybums. But it was really hard getting back into the swing of things over here. We mostly just ate, watched the tapes of the Big Unknown that I brought with me, and slept. Oh...and we fixed a jigsaw puzzle that we gave up on when we got to the sky part. It's just way too tough! We'll continue the rest probably when we go to Munich again in May.

On Saturday evening, we went to the Circus with Max's parents and brother!! I've never been to a circus and it was really cool! I loved the death-defying acts...the tightrope and several other ones like the Shaolin monks' act. I didn't like the clowns but the ones I liked the least were the animal acts....the animals looked SUPER SAD and tortured. Terrible! But it was a great evening! We went to a bavarian pub after the show, but didn't stay too long cos we were tired.

We had Easter Sunday brunch with Max's parents and grandmother. It was quite cool, cos we don't have such Easter celebrations in Singapore. The egg-cracking game is kinda cute, but a little silly too. Heh. I think we ate like tons of chocolate eggs over the past week!! At night, we went to Max's friend's birthday thing. I got slight ly drunk on like ONE sex on the beach. Man...I've never gotten tipsy so easily till about January this year. What on earth is wrong with me? I must've been an embarrassment. I had to concentrate really hard when people talked to me...cos I felt like I was nearly gone.

Went to Neuschwanstein Castle on Easter Monday. Tons of tourists! The castle was pretty, but Ludwig II was really a tad insane. The entire castle was dedicated to Richard Wagner and his operas. Like, hmm...well he was supposedly gay as well, but you'd never know for sure. What I liked most was the waterfall behind the castle. We were on this bridge that was kinda shakey...but the view was magnificent! Pity the weather wasn't that great, but it was bearable. Still, all in all, the experience was pretty good. The whole trip took 9 hours...cos we travelled there and had to wait and all that. We also went to the "Wieskirche", one of the oldest, most decorated baroque churches. It was pretty, but I still feel that the money that went into it could've gone to help like poor and suffering people instead. I took lots of photos at Neuschwanstein, but I didn't really feel like taking any at Wieskirche. Anyway, we felt kinda tired again when we got back to Munich.

We went to town on Tuesday to meet his best friend and his best friend's girfriend. We spent over an hour looking for a place to eat. It was kinda dumb. I was in a horrible mood by then, cos I was so hungry. We walked and walked to this museum type place, but decided not to go in, cos it was closing in an hour and it wasn't quite worth it to pay 5 Euros for that hour. So we just sat outside talking till we felt like going home. We helped his mum to make chicken rice (I got her the Primataste package)...it was really yummy! So we all had dinner...and then rested a while till about 8.30pm, when we went swimming with his classmate and her ex-bf. The outdoor pool was the coolest! It was heated so we were warm while in the water, but it was cold above the surface. It was really funky! I didn't think too much of the indoor pools though...too much chlorine in the water and too MANY PEOPLE! I wish I had goggles. The chlorine really hurt my eyes. Still....at least I can say that I've been in a indoor pool. Had some Spanish dessert after that. Was kinda sleepy though..swimming was exhausting!

Wednesday was spent mostly in town. Went to the city museum and spent about 1-2 hours there, looking at the Munich history exhibit. That was quite intriguing. I liked it better than their puppet exhibit. Then we went back, had dinner and decided that we wanted to watch a movie. I chose Kinsey, cos I'd wanted to watch it in Singapore, but it ended its run before I arrived, so...anyway, it was in German...and although Max doesn't exactly like dubbed movies, he went with me. And it turns out, it was better than he expected. It was really quite funny...although some of the incidents were kinda sick. Ugh. But hilarious and sad at the same time.

Thursday was spent like mostly in the train and well, packing up to leave. Then cos it was too darn complicated, I just went over to Max's place in Dresden. We ordered in Indian food. It was really not bad. Although it was take-out, I think it was better than the stuff I got in Raj, this expensive Indian restaurant in the Dresden-Neustadt. We even had leftovers for the next day...but we bought some kebab stick, fried the meat&veg, then made a sauce for it and ate it with the leftover basmati rice.

So, after a breakfast of muesli and ice cream, I am back here in my room, trying to get settled into student life again.
