Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

It's 7.29 in the morning and there is not HOT water...like is that reasonable? There's a 7.30am class, so what about the people who have to shower before they go for class?? Humph. Will probably have to wait till 8am and hopefully they'll have warm water by then! Argh.

Well, this past week has been hectic. Last weekend, Marcus and I got a router so that we could connect both our computers to the Internet. But, I didn't bring my disk drive, so I couldn't install the CD and Marcus has this weird problem with his PC...it's like you can't unplug and replug the LAN cable without restarting the computer...but I will try this weekend to install the software on my computer first and hopefully it all works out. If not we'll just have to return the router to Media Markt. But I hope it works because then we won't have to take turns on the PC (it's sometimes hard to tear Marcus away from his WOW, but he has improved very much since we talked about it)

The presentation about The Windsors and Princess Diana was yesterday...finally it's OVER!!! YAY!!!! Well, it was still pretty much unclear what we really had to do, but when Julia and I met up on Wednesday, at least we managed to structure it well enough so that it flowed smoothly and wasn't unexpected. We were both super nervous and we even met 50 min beforehand to do last minute preparations. In the end, he said the content was fine but we had to think about where there might be problems and conflicts when you hear the facts...and ask ourselves and our audience why it is like that. He said our English was good...but Julia was pretty shocked when he said she had an American accent...and I of course had some Asian accent...but while I'd never speak Singlish during a presentation, I wouldn't fake a British or American or whatever accent just to please them. I want to speak the way I do...with an educated Singaporean accent. He did say possess a great vocabulary, although I have no idea what's so great about it because all the words I used were what I wouldn't avoid in daily conversation, except maybe "Constitutional Monarchy" or something like that. Anyway, he said it was a 2. The guy last week got a 1- but I thought his presentation was better because it was extremely clear what he was trying to tell us. I liked Julia's part as well...the only thing he said was that she kept looking back at the projection although she should've looked at the laptop instead. Ah well. Also, I giggled a few times out of nervousness. Sigh. I really have to get rid of this awful habit. The prof said it was more common in women, although men do other stupid things when they are nervous. I'm just glad it's all over!!

I managed to give away the MFC, my mat and my exercise ball. All these things have just been collecting dust man! When I have time, I'm gonna have to slowly sort out my things and see what else I can give away or throw away or donate. Everything just accumulated throughout the 4 years I've been here.

Mai's been moving out this week and today will be the day she moves out of Wundtstr. for good...it's weird, like the end of an era. But I had lunch with her and Fu Wei in the Mensa yesterday...and today, Fu Wei, Liu Jian and I will have lunch together because they have Grillhaxe!! Oh man...and for just 1,90 Euro! For this reason, I am leaving for Leipzig one hour later than I usually do. I hope it's not sold out!

The sort of WG we have here in our unit is beginning to break up :( Fu Wei will leave at the end of July and so will I...it's a really strange feeling but I guess at least all of us are more or less doing it together. They are one of the main reasons I stayed here for so long...the others being cheap Internet and proximity to school. But it makes no sense to stay here any longer after everyone's gone. I'll definitely look for a new place when I'm back.

Ok, it's 8:02...I'll try to take a shower now...
