Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

Yay! It's the weekend! Well, not that it means much at all. I still have to study. But I'm not going to! Well...not THAT much anyway. I've made plans. I'm going shopping today!! Going to buy stuff to bring home. I'm hoping I don't go overboard though, cos as I have already mentioned, there is a hole in my suitcase and secondly, there's no slave labour to carry my suitcase to the airport.

I'm just really happy to get fresh air. I've been living in isolation for the past 3-4 weeks...and I'm going insane. I can't look at another book. Plus, I LOVE shopping! Even if it's just for food or stuff like that.

Going to Leipzig tomorrow...yay! I haven't been anywhere since erm...mid Jan? Yikes. It's been more than a month since I've taken a train. Such a contrast to the weekly excursions I've taken the past semester. Raymond and I have been wanting to see the Stasi Museum and finally, we've gotten down to it. I kinda want the pineapple tarts he brought me..though I am flying back soon. But I can share them with my neighbours. :)

We're going to have a little celebration on Tuesday, before we all fly home. Phuong has decided that she doesn't want to take her Zwischenprüfung this semester. Which isn't too bad a choice, all things considered. She's been working so hard this semester...I guess it'll be better if she takes it next sem. Less pressure for her anyway. And since she'll be in the 5th semester next sem, it's still not too late. I'm already in the 5th, so I should take it this sem...in case I fail. Next sem is my last chance to take the exam before I get kicked out of uni. In any case, I'm sure the decision wasn't that easy to make. But sometimes you just have to make it. No point being wishy-washy. Make it and stick with it.

I just hope she went to talk to Stahlheber about her English exam...she's afraid of her. Well, everyone is a little. She's scary. Her NAME is scary. But it's something she has to do. I shouldn't kaypoh, but I wouldn't want her to get kicked out of uni. She, Mai and Fu Wei are great neighbours...and I wouldn't swop them for anyone else. We may not really talk that much about our lives apart from school, but they are still great people.

I'm glad we'll all get to go home these hols. This place is going to be so quiet with all of us gone. Fu Wei will be back on the 13th...and we'll all be gone by the 2nd. I wanna find out who wins "Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar"!! I usually don't like watching these reality/casting shows, but I think once I start watching, the people kinda grow on me and I just have to find out who wins. Either that or das Lernen hat mich in den Wahnsinn getrieben.

Have not talked about anything but studying these couple of days...so I shall talk about football today!

Ok, I admit I don't know much about the technical side of football, but I love watching a match on TV every now and then. The last match I watched, was admittedly, a long time ago. I can't even remember which it was. The last memorable match was last year's Champions League final between Liverpool and AC Milan...that was ONE AMAZING match...I know lots of pple turned off the TV after the lst half...after all, AC Milan was leading 3-0...but Liverpool fought back and the score at full-time was 3-3. The penalties were exciting too.

Anyway, I was watching Bayern München vs AC Milan today...it wasn't too bad, though I was hoping for more action. Bayern was totally dominant in the first half. After 20 min or something, Bayern had 8 goal kicks to AC Milan's 1! And Ballack's goal from 24 metres was actually a really pretty one. He slotted it right in...gorgeous! Not the most beautiful I've ever seen, but still a very nice goal.

In case you're wondering, I'm not a big Bayern fan. But, I'm even less an AC Milan fan...

In any case, the ref awarded AC Milan a penalty...which, when watching the replay, wasn't exactly justified. And well, AC Milan scored. By the way, Oliver Kahn was injured, so his 21-year old replacement (who's a lot better looking!) had to play. I wouldn't say he was really tested during the match though. The ball mostly stayed in Bayern's half of the field...and in any case, there weren't many attempts at goal by AC.

And it ended.. 1:1

They also showed the highlights of the other matches played today. Lyon vs. PSV Eindhoven looked a lot more interesting...a lot more attempts at goal, for one. A lot of near misses. Real Madrid vs Arsenal looked pretty interesting too. I used to hate Arsenal, but ever since Chelsea started BUYING the "best team ever", I've begun to sympathise more with Arsenal. They're not doing all that well in the EPL either.

Ok, enough about football. It's time to sleep.

Am definitely suffering from studying burnout. My attention span has become close to non-existent. All I can think of is comfort food...roast chicken, potato salad, hotdogs etc. I even baked chocolate muffins...and promptly ate 8 of them. Ugh. I really wish eating too much wouldn't make people gain weight. But oh well...such is life. Have to deal with the temptations (though I'm nothing near successful these days)

Been wanting to go to the library, but there's something that refuses to let me go. To be honest, the only thing I have against going there is the really poor ventilation. I feel woozy after spending 10 minutes in there, cos the air is so stagnant. But I guess I'll give it a try today. After all, I only have about 1 1/2 weeks before the exam and I really do need to get things done! This is my last chance. If I really hate it there so much, I'll come home...but I at least have to try.

Oh blah...how I long for relief! I kinda wish I could fastfoward the next few days. I couldn't stand another week of staring blankly at my notes. I'll have to keep forcing myself to think about going home after the exam.

Oh great...the weather for the next week seems dismal. Rain and snow...and lower temperatures...even negative. Makes me wanna hide out at home. Or go back to Singapore. I prefer the latter, to be honest.
