Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

okay, Han says I maligned her so I must clear her name. She does not gush. She is a cool person unaffected by all this. (her words) but she does love LOTR and Legolas (yucks). Haha...Sorry han... That's as far as my public apology goes for now...I must go watch Zhen Qing...haha!
oh yay...it works. Twice in a row I type super long entries and twice they've been wiped out. This confirms my age-old fear that I have no affinity with computers! They hate me!!! *sobsob* Anyway, yesterday was fun... now that I know when exactly I'm leaving (31st Jan, 11.30pm...yay...can skip the crap with the uncles who only talk abt 2 things, studies and health) there isn't much time for me to really enjoy slacking at all! 2 weeks more...that's all that's left! So what did I do? I went out with Tiffany to support "The Mission" (yes, AGAIN. We seem like some obsessed Mediacorp fans right?) and like wow, Li Nanxing and Yang Libing seem to have done everything right. The sale was supposed to be 10.30am-1.30pm but even before 1pm, they'd sold out all their 100 pizzas, even though they cost $24.90. Whoa..the blue team wasn't even close, though they were at Wisma, which Tiff and I thought would be very crowded. Well, Tiff and I made her mother very happy. Why? Tiff got their autographs on their poster and she took photos with Li Nanxing, Yang Libing, and Tiff's "good friend" Zhen Rong aka Dasmond Koh the yellow team host. We also popped over to Wisma on the way to Wesley's place to see Tiff's idol, Chew Chor Meng. He looks awfully young man and he's hilarious man! Wesley's house wasn't as hard to find as we thought. Tiff wanted to burn CDs there so we got to listen to some nice music (Wes has like 1356 mp3s!!) Oh, to reveal some secrets, or maybe not really secrets, Wesley has a PINK room and a whole bunch of Backstreet Boys, Westlife, A1, Britney Spears and Teresa Teng mp3s on his com. Haha, okay lah, not all of them are his. But it sure was funny. I also loved the part where we looked at his old SJI annuals. It was hilarious looking at our friends in sec 1 and 2. Haha! Haven't had such a great time just hanging out at someone's place in a long time!
is it working today???

Ugh...I typed a really long entry yesterday, but it was TOO LONG!!! So now everything's gone. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Anyway, I guess I wanna give my review of Hero here. Ying Han absolutely loved it...she kept gushing and gushing about it even after lunch...yes, she likes it THAT much. In her words, "it captures the essence of Chinese culture" and something about stunning graphics. Okay, I like the movie, but there are some things about it that disturb me. For one, the movie definitely lacks depth. This is probably due to the many different narratives, which doesn't really allow the story to develop, but instead confuses the average movie-goer. Ironically, it is the plethora of different narratives that intrigue me. I absolutely love films or books which show you how all truth is relative, depending on the perspective held. Okay....obviously, the graphics are magnificent. I don't think anyone wants to dispute that, but there were some scenes which were reminiscient of the Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers, like the bunch or rather SEA...maybe even OCEAN of Chinese troops...aren't they kinda like Saruman's evil army? Plus, the arrows are so erm Legolas?? At the end, there's even this scene where the emperor is kinda given advice to kill Nameless, like how the king of Rowan is misled by his evil advisor. Okay...enough comparisons with LOTR! Anyway, the movie does get to the point, or points, eventually...but it is only at the very end. You get this whole bunch of stuff about how swordsmanship at its highest level, is about...erm, not having the sword at all (yeah, big HUH??!!). Also, the big big theme is how violence for a greater purpose i.e. the unification of China can be justified. I so totally do NOT agree with this. Violence is violence and it's bad, period. Like as if "war for peace" really makes sense...ugh...but then egos always get in the way. Everyone wants to be THE leader. I'm getting carried away here but okay, the main point I wanna make is that it's kinda sad that Mr Controversial Film-maker Zhang Yimou is actually condoning the the actions of Qin Shi Huang! Ugh. Okay, maybe that guy was some kinda genius and admittedly, he had to be...I mean how else can you unify the entire China right? But he was a "the ends justify the means" kinda guy, which made him awfully cruel. C'mon, he killed like really smart pple and even his most trusted advisor. Doesn't it say something? Oh well, this movie, though kinda 2-D in it's finality, does make me think, about whether the message it's sending is really the right one. But who knows? Maybe this is really what Zhang Yimou is trying to do...challenge us to have a different opinion? I don't know...

Haha...I just read Tiffany's description of Springs of Life, so I shall come up with my own version of an ode to "Wan Quan Yu Le" (see, I still remember my hanyu pinyin). Audrey started this whole thing actually. Audrey's gotten me hooked to a lot of stuff, like last time, it was bubble tea and now it's Chinese shows. The first time I watched it was when Audrey, Han and Rachel stayed over at my place. Audrey was convinced that Shan Wei is gay coz she has this has this theory that all guys who are something Wei are gay...don't ask me why. So anyway, I watch and think Shan Wei is cute (who cares if he's gay, it's a fantasy, but I don't think he is), BUT I didn't like really start watching it till after New Year (I think) cos I've been going out like crazy.

Anyway, now that practically everyone I know is working or donning the green suit and preparing to die for the country (I shall not make any political comments), I have lotsa time, so I sit in front of the gogglebox and watch 2 Taiwanese guys make fools out of themselves. Why do I like the show even though I'm allergic to Chinese? Hmmm, well, firstly, I think Shan Wei is cute, even if no one else really thinks so. He and Wang Ren Fu are super funny together. Ying Han and I prefer Shan Wei to the other 2 but Audrey prefers Meng Zhe.

I like Meng Zhe's name....reason number 2. Yes, dumb reason, but he's so blur and I love the name. If I ever have a son, I'm gonna call him Meng Zhe too...(well, that's hardly likely...having a kid in the first place I mean)

Reason number 3? I love all the crazy games they play and the weird tips they give eg. Feng Shui, How to catch a crush's interest, How to lose weight, What Hat suits you...etc etc. Not truly informative, but very funny nonetheless.

Reason 4: I love the HHUUUUUGGGGEEE Mashimaro thingy that they keep tossing over each other's heads!! Childish lah, but what can I say? I have this awful weakness for stuffed animals...I have a whole cupboard full of them and then some. My sisters gave me the big gigantic Happy House Pig for Christmas...it takes up half of my bed, which is good, cos when I was younger, I couldn't sleep alone...esp in the day! Had this ridiculous, inane fear of sleeping alone...ugh.

Hmm...what else can I say about the show? Well, you get nothing like that in Singapore. Pple just aren't as spontaneous here. I've watched so many shows and I think Singaporeans are like so super stiff and fuddy-duddy man! Lighten up!! That's really why I love the show...think they have something to teach us y'know... not some moral sermon, but how to have fun!!!!! PARTY man!!!

All in all, my view on the show and why I continue watching it is: watching cute guys having fun...what could be better than that?? Haha....till next time!
Phew...just came home from KAP...no no, not to eat at McDonalds...to Cold Storage (yes yes, Samantha has no life) It was like some kinda adventure man...was searching high and low for MARMITE when I finally spotted this harrassed looking manager who told me where it was. But he was nice, so it's okay. Hmm... all those aspiring housewives out there, watch out...this could be your kinda life in the future. All in all the shopping trip was pretty good. Got Inari (y'know, those beancurd skin thingys that you get in Jap conveyor belt restaurants)...I just love it man! In any case, it was pretty ex. Does it bother me? Not really...only that my daddy keeps saying we should save $$$. He says I've gotta watch my phone bill. It's not like I SMS a lot or whatever...I don't think $40 is a lot, do you? My sis uses more but he complains to me more...ugh, so unfair...*sobsob* she's also chio and artistic...what have I got? Ugh. Let's not think about it. Anyway, like Tiffany, or rather even more so, I am a personality test afficionado. I'm addicted to these things, especially during the "A"s...haha. I'm always looking out for new ones to do, so tell me if you know of any!
Yay!!! So happy...why? Got my neopets account back after some idiot stole my password. Sicko person... I sent him/her hatemail...haha...aren't I evil? I'm glad I got it back cos my sister lost her account before and she only got it back 1 year later. Am I childish to be playing neopets at my age? Maybe, but I like them more than I like REAL animals that eat and poop all over the place. Besides, you kinda grow attached to them after a while, especially when you create them. Think I'm gonna spend today rotting at home again... not that I really mind. Even though I was at Orchard yesterday, I actually didn't feel like shopping. Can you believe it? Sam the SHOPPING ADDICT didn't wanna go shopping! It's a miracle, man!

I was inspired by Tiffany's interesting life so I decided to start my own blog. My own life ain't too exciting, but it'll do... Should get better soon, once I fly off to Germany. However, I suspect I won't even be going. WHY? Cos the weirdo people supposedly in charge of us didn't book the tickets for Ruth and me! If we have to book the tickets for ourselves, I'm gonna choose SIA...got Krisworld and better food... So much for efficiency. Basically, Ruth and I just went to the German Embassy to hand over our passports and fork out $45! Hmm...but at least service was better than last time...freaking SPG Auntie...ugh...
