Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

Stupid CokeFridge.de...hello...I have never used the damn code before...unless someone else opened the bottle before me. Which I don't think so. It's the second time it has happened. The people at Coca-Cola should be more careful man!

Haha...anyway, that's just a silly complain...I'm not really mad or what.

I ate like crazy yesterday...it's just ridiculous...dunno whether it's out of boredom or stress or cos it's gotten colder...I wore a sweater and sweat pants to play tennis today...and wore the jacket I usually wear in Autumn or early Spring. Well, I will be happy if June is around 20 deg...right now, I don't really have a need for warm sunny weather, even though it would certainly be nicer.

Anyway, Fu Wei baked coconut buns and I had 3 of them...and Mai and Phuong made the fresh Vietnamese spring rolls and sago...I can't say no to those things, because I haven't eaten them in eons..that was along with all the nuts, cereal and kiwi and what not I had between lunch and dinner. I also had 3 bananas between breakfast and lunch. Amazing what my stomach can hold. We also watched X-Men 2 on TV. I haven't watched the movies, but Sherry and I used to watch the cartoon series on TV when we were younger.

Today was a tiring but really not bad day...I woke up a little late and I missed the usual 5:39am bus to the swimming pool..actually, I did wake up at 5am...but then I decided to lie down a little longer and when I woke up again, it was 5.35...so...too late...but after thinking about it for a while, I decided to go.

And erm, I drank a bit of chlorine water, which is making the area in my mouth between my nose and mouth hurt a lot...a bit hard to breathe :(. Anyway, I still can't get the breaststroke right. I can't move forward and I can't keep my butt up. Blah. But the coach said I'm good enough to move on to working on my backstroke and front crawl. I personally HATE the front crawl...but maybe after working on my backstroke a couple of more weeks, I might try the front crawl. I was glad that I went though...it felt good.

Then I came back and slept a bit. And then went for my Indian Cinema seminar. My prof thinks I've got luck with the beamer...hmm..as if! I hope nothing goes wrong when it's my turn to present. The second presenter was this guy who usually looks sloppy. But today, he had a new, neat haircut and was wearing a long-sleeved SHIRT (i.e. not a sloppy sweatshirt)...I was surprised and impressed. But his presentation wasn't very good...but it was good because good points were brought up because of it. Hope I can use this new knowledge appropriately during my presentation. It's actually coming up after the hols, and we're gonna meet the prof on Tuesday, so we can work on the presentation over the hols. But I'm gonna be travelling during the hols. I hope I can work it out somehow...got so freaking much to do that I'm slowly going insane. Ok, but my two main tasks for the hols are the presentation for Indian Cinema and the Language and Society article review. Then the Language and Society presentation...and after that, all the various exams...and after THAT, the term papers and my project...have to take things one at a time...but I'll survive somehow...besides, as I keep telling everyone, if we didn't have these things to do, we'd probably be bored out of our wits.

Then, I came home for a while and had lunch...made a couple more plans..and then went for tennis. Florian wasn't there this week...we had a replacement coach, Stefanie. She's quite cute...but oh my goodness, the warm-up was soooooo TIRING! But we played a lot more than when Florian's there. When I played with her, she asked me if I'd played tennis before. I said yes, but like a suuuuper long time ago..she said she could see it, that I had good technique. No ball instinct though, I told her...and it's true...I mean like I've said before, I can demo the moves quite nicely...but try to combine the action with a real ball...and bye bye to the nice pose. But thanks for the compliment anyway :) When Florian comes back, I'll have to work on playing "with more feeling".

Going to Weimar tomorrow...hope it's fun! I will bring more jackets cos I don't wanna freeze!

I am an utter disgrace to all my English teachers...I got a 3,0 for my Classroom English test. And apart from that, I've gotten 2,3 and 2,7 for Business English. Gone are the days when I used to get 1s. I don't exactly wanna beat myself up about it, but I really am kinda disappointed. Sigh. Well, at least my neighbour thought my H&M paper bag description was funny and I think the teacher was amused at getting a paper bag, instead of a postcard, photo or image from a book. Anyway, the problem is GRAMMAR. I know my knowledge of grammar is severely lacking...so, I will read my Longman English Grammar, or "the Alexander" as people here call it. It's not exactly light reading, but I have to pull up my socks and not embarrass the Singapore school system.

I went for a Salsa party at my university last night. It was my first uni party...and honestly, the people that hang out there aren't very good looking. I'm sorry, I know I am being mean...but they had a Miss TU preliminary competition...and erm, all of the candidates were like average looking at best. Ok, I'll admit I have high standards...anyway, we watched a movie first...l'auberge espagnol. It's hilarious...and does touch on issues that foreign students experience. Maybe I'll get the DVD...Mai and Fu Wei like it too. However, I had to admit that it is very cliched...but maybe deliberately so...to provoke us into thinking differently

And, I just wanna say and repeat: I CANNOT DANCE TO SAVE MY LIFE!! But ok...it wasn't too bad...reminded me a bit of when I was 15 and in Germany for the first time...clubbing seemed a lot more fun then...but I am a clumsy person with no sense of rhythm at all...so I couldn't do this regularly. Thankfully, we left at midnight...cos I had class at 9.20am this morning.

Fu Wei actually SMSed Sebastian, who said they'd be coming...but then after exchanging a couple of SMSes, they decided to go to the Gutzkow Club and asked us whether we wanted to go. Honestly, I might have...but mostly because it was a Salsa party and I cannot dance Salsa. Heck. I can't dance. Period. So in the end, we didn't meet up lah...

Tomorrow's a holiday!! yay!! Can take a break from going to school! I still have tons of work to do but oh well...

Today's Language and Society class was interesting. For one, it was kinda clear that the presenter had no idea what she was talking about. Not that she didn't prepare, but she didn't understand the stuff she was talking about...and so she couldn't explain what the stuff meant. And the lecturer said, "Das war ein Paradebeispiel für einen total zuhörerfeindlichen Vortrag." Well, they are direct here...and it was true...and although I felt a bit bad for the girl, I totally felt her presentation deserved it. If she didn't understand, she should've discussed with the lecturer mah...plus, she was just reading out the handout.

Ok lah...nothing much else to say for today...pretty uneventful...didn't meet any cute guys or girls, for that matter...OH...but I'm going to Weimar this weekend. Yay!

Here are the photos from Thursday...cos I don't really feel like writing that much today...
