Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

I'm back in Dresden again! Didn't have time to blog lately...was super busy at work, then I was super busy getting last minute stuff done before I left Singapore. So much happened in the space of 2 or 3 weeks. I don't even know where to start. Maybe I should just start from the present...then see how far I get.

I have a SORE throat. I don't know how I got it, but I can guess. It might be the climate change (I'd forgotten how cold it can get!), or that I didn't drink enough water (my throat feels more dry than anything else) or that I got it from someone else. Or it could be that I was too tired and that weakened my immune system. In any case, I hope it doesn't get worse than this.

The flight to Germany didn't seem to take as long as usual. Maybe it was cos Lee Ting was there. It was definitely real comforting to have someone familiar to sit with. I'm kinda sick of long, lonely flight. My only gripe is that they didn't give us ice cream for dessert! Also, I'd watched most of the movies already...well, those that I would've been interested to watch anyway...so I only watched "Mr and Mrs Smith", which I found kinda plotless. It was forgettable, but Brad Pitt did look great. The guy does NOT look his age. I tried watching "Sin City", but it wasn't very interesting...just sick...so I gave up after a couple of minutes. I spent the rest of the time either sleeping or watching sitcoms. I watched Will and Grace, and Joey...and "101 Most Starlicious Makeovers". The rest of the time, I just slept, or at least, tried to. I was sooo sooo tired. I tried 3 different snacks on the plane: chips, vege sandwich and dried cranberries + blueberries. But I was glad when we finally reached Frankfurt. It wasn't the turbulence-free, dream landing like the last time I flew to Frankfurt, but it was still good. From there, we made our way to the wing where the domestic flights are. Lee Ting's flight was 15 min before mine, so I went with her to her gate first. Showed her my photos and the stickers my dad bought me at Changi Airport. They have a Mini Toons there now! So cool!! I love that they have a variety of shops at the airport. The flight to Dresden was also pretty uneventful...except the stupid plane was parked away from the terminal, so we had to take a bus. I hate taking airport buses. They are usually very packed. When I got to Dresden, Angeline was there to pick me up. I am so so so grateful to her. My stupid suitcase weighed 27.5kg...I would NEVER have made it on my own.

I didn't have anything to eat...I had pasta, but no sauce. Rice but nothing to cook with it. Muesli, but no milk..you get the picture...so I ate 4 fun packs of M&Ms...which could be why I have a sore throat. After that, I packed my room: cleaned the windows, wiped all surfaces, cleaned the fridge, wiped the mirrors, changed the bedsheet and pillowcase, washed away the red ink that had spilled etc. I was really exhausted by then. But I still had to go see this teacher. I ended up waiting more than 45 min, cos the first person took VERY LONG with her. And she told me that she didn't have anymore space in the seminar. Yikes. I might've looked like I was ready to cry, because she began asking me a few questions, like what semester I was in, where I was from and where I'd learnt German. She asked if I grew up in Germany or if I had a German father or mother, cos my German was very good. I felt kinda paiseh and very nervous, cos I hadn't spoken any German for practically the whole of the hols. But yay!! She caved in and let me teach this total beginners' class. So happy! I was grinning all the way home! Well, before I got home though, I went to NORMA, this itsy-bitsy little supermarket up the slope from my place. I got minced meat, eggs, milk and erm...well, I can't remember what else. Maybe that's all. I fried some meat, mixed veg and cooked rice for dinner. I've eaten that 3 times already, as of today's dinner. Going to Berlin tomorrow, so maybe I won't be eating that till Sunday night at least. But I think I'll probably cook pasta or porridge or something else..need to vary things a bit...that's for sure. But in general, I cook only 3-4 things, unless I get some stroke of inspiration. Or something's on offer at the supermarket.

I spent today sorting out my clothes. Some of the old ones look kinda sloppy on me, cos they're a little loose now. But I don't think I'll throw or give anything away, cos I would then need to buy new clothes should I gain weight during winter. Ugh...horrible thought...but it could happen.

Watched a bit of TV today. Realised that I love trashy shows. I was watching this talk show where the topic was something like "My man is the one in control" about machos. It was so sick...some women actually LOOOOVE machos and think they are very self-confident. Right-o. I think the problem with machos is that they have very low self-esteem..which is why they treat women the way they do. Silly people! How can women accept machos in this day and age? Yikes!

Ok, I should go sleep now. Am going to Berlin tomorrow morning!
