Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

Hmm...this week has flown by like super super quickly! Well, these 3 weeks actually. It's been 3 weeks since I left Singapore! I suppose I was right when I said that 3 months is not a short time but it is also not a long time. Alex is not here today, so I am like relatively free. I mean like I've already had lunch and as one of my collegues is going to Manchester for 3 months, we've also had really great cake to eat. She baked it all herself. I really aspire to be like her...good baker, tattoos, really really funky!

Erm, because all this time has passed so quickly, I can hardly remember what I've done at all. Well, at work I got to translate a letter into English and assemble some information folders together. It was quite fun really. But I am still not really done with that silly database...well, maybe...depending on the feedback from those who haven't replied. My eyes are pretty much gonna explode from staring at the screen so much. But even leisure activities here are pretty much computer-based, in the office at least. Ugh, I dread to think I'll have to change my specs cos my degree has gone up again!

I love writing emails, but I have somehow been getting fewer and fewer. I have to admit that I cannot expect too much, cos everyone has their own things to do...but I am glad that there are those who write to me regularly.

Ruth should be coming back today. I don't think she is coming to work but I saw her boss during lunch just now. I hope she'll have lotsa news to tell me when she's back.

Work is getting more fun...well, the office anyway...I've been staying late these past few days cos there's nothing to go back to at home. When Ruth is here, I usually leave promptly at 5pm...hmm...actually don't have much work to stay back for, but can always find something to do lah.

Erm, don't think my German has improved at all. Erm, but it is my fault. I am unbelievably shy here and I hardly have anything to say...as I said, not many common topics of interest.

Oh, I'm further along the book now...the subplots are merging together. It is actually not really mainplot-subplot, but 2 plots together in a book. Not bad...but due to all those Lit lessons, I'm beginning to analyse the whole thing too much. Whatever happened to 'leisure' reading?

Okay, back to work again...

haha...no need for a full entry but Alex is finally here and our dear friend Andrea is sitting seductively at his desk. I think she has been waiting for him the whole morning. Erm, better not go ask him what I can do now...inappropriate time...haha!
Nothing to do at the moment. Alex left early yesterday and is not here yet, even though it is already 10.30! So...since I have finished my work, I have nothing to do today! Haha, well it's okay I guess, cos I had more work than usual yesterday. Apart from the silly database updating task, I got to go to the 'Copy Service Centre' (not the 'photocopy shop' as most mortal would call it) and to the Post erm, I cannot translate the thing...post place. Alex sent me there on my own the second time and I unfortunately forgot that I actually went there the first time...but I found it soon enough and I came back so fast that Alex claimed I must've dumped it in the dustbin. Humph! I got to use the photocopier and printer and colour printer and what not. Quite good. Alex said, so I have something new every day. I told him that variety is the spice of life.

The funniest part of the day was when Andrea, the lady from Marketing came over to look for Alex again. She finally recovered from her cold and was all over him! Haha... very funny. She looks like a librarian and Alex isn't that yandao either. But still, they look kinda cute together, cos she looks older than him...though I don't really know. Alex was saying that he's been working here for 10 years already. Like whoa, that is a really long time man...he's 31 this year...so yes, everyone here is a lot older than me. I don't think there's really anyone under 30 here.

As for the weekend, I went to the Library to apply for a card but I forgot my identification...so stupid right? Then I walked around on my own for a while, looking at a lot of stuff but only buying postcards and stuff to eat for the weekend.

On Sunday, my landlady and her friend brought me to the huge lake called Dutzendteich and it was all frozen over. Everyone was skating or playing ice-hockey but obviously I didn't try. Not a good idea to break any limbs here. We went to some centre which was part of Hitler's former party grounds. It is so BIG...I wonder what it must've looked like in it's heyday....erm, but it would be nice to bypass the gruesome acts and cruelty. Then when we got home, we played UNO, 'Mensch, ärgere dich nicht' and 'Müller', the latter 2 I just learnt that day. It was really fun and the time passed like really really quickly! Then I read this book that my landlady lent me, which is quite interesting, but I am only at page 100 plus of around 500. Still, I've only read it for short periods over these 3 days.

Valentines Day...you can tell who has another half...those who did started disappearing really early...By 5.15, only 3 people left, including me. But it is no big deal over here. Everyone just got a heart-shaped chocolate from the canteen people. I just bought a pizza and ate it while watching Friends. Still, not bad though.

Life really ain't bad. I just need more friends that I can speak German to. ;) Anyway, sorry to those who couldn't send emails to my Siemens email add. Please send to hearthief@hotmail.com k? Thanks!
