Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

There's a new cashier at REWE near the Hauptbahnhof..and he's CUTE! Ok lah, not dropdead gorgeous, but good enough to be eye candy. I think I first saw him there on Wednesday. It was obvious that he's new, cos he took a while to figure out what to do with my EC-Karte and we got into a mess while I was trying to hand him the pen and the receipt with my signature and he tried to hand me my card back. Haha...

Then today, I needed to get some stuff for Fu Wei and stuff to cook for tonight's dinner...so I went to Aldi first, then to REWE...and there he was again. I didn't actually notice him when I was walking in...and when I was paying, I didn't realise that the other queue was even open, so I just queued up...and by the time I'd noticed the other queue, I'd already laid my stuff so nicely on the counter that it was dumb to go repack everything and move to the other cashier. And this time, he looked up at me and winked. It's not that he recognises me hor...I wish it were...but you know how cute guys who know they are cute are...they like to wink at you just cos they know they can. Haha...but if you ignore that fact, I guess it's really nice, cos it kinda makes you feel special. Maybe he was just bored of looking at old ladies and guys who only buy cigarettes and beer. Oh, but he's gotten better at the whole card thing since Wednesday...and he winked again when he said bye.

It's really a good sales tactic you know...now that there's eye candy at REWE, there's even more reason to shop there! Actually I started going to the one there quite often because the no. 11 route changed and this is the best place to go to, cos there's Aldi next door, if you cannot get what you want at REWE. But what I like about REWE is actually that you can buy stuff like potatoes and onions in small quantities. And it sells my favourite cereal at the cheapest price I've seen so far. Haha..so the cute cashier's just one of the additional reasons to go there!

I'm silly, aren't I? ;)

I was at the Asian shop just now...and I saw sour plums!! Suddenly, I had a major craving for them and I just had to buy them! Actually, I haven't eaten them for years and years...but when I looked at them, I suddenly remember what they taste like in my mouth...and so I couldn't resist. They're not cheap. About SGD 1 for 15. But thorougly satisfying. I've had 11 at one shot. Am resisting the rest, in case I get a sore throat. I just went grocery shopping and got quite a lot of stuff. I love grocery shopping! The only part I don't like is lugging everything home!

There was spinach today...and believe me, this is only the second time I've ever seen FRESH spinach on sale (fresh as opposed to frozen, not as opposed to rotten). Of course I was excited! The moment I got home and saw Shermaine online, I asked her how my maid cooks spinach at home. I am a spinach lover. I definitely don't get to eat it often enough. I am so going to cook it for dinner tonight! Yummy! I also got bananas and pears...although, fruit makes me hungrier, not fuller, unlike in the case of other people. Oh blah...what to do? The fruit look so appealing! And soon, it will be strawberry season...and I saw gorgeous grapes too! But I didn't buy them cos I already have apples in the fridge, in addition to the bananas and pears that I bought. I bought other stuff too, but these are the exciting ones lah. I think I might have to get other things tomorrow, cos I need to get stuff from "dm" anyway. I forgot to get pepper! Sigh. I have whole-grain pepper...but I'd kinda need to crush them first. Need to get meat and stuff. Wanted to try making char kway teow for our celebration this weekend...but cannot find thick kway teow...blah...so will have to try and modify a bit. Hope Fu Wei still has lap cheong. If not, I guess I'll just serve them kueh lapis and bakwa...and Almond Roca.

It's funny that Fu Wei, Phuong and Mai say that I look like I've lost weight...because, the scale tells me otherwise. I weigh exactly the same as before I left for Singapore. Guess what my "weight-loss secret" is? A tan...that's the only thing that's different about me. Vital stats are still the same, so seriously, I'm not being falsely modest. It is nice to hear people tell you that you look "strahlend"...especially when you haven't done anything special to look that way. Yes, this is the vanity in me speaking.

On a sadder note, I think my timetable SUX big time. I have the 2nd, 4th and 6th period on Tuesdays and 1st, 3rd and 5th period on Thursday (Wed is 3 periods consecutively, but that's the way I like it, and I have one period on Friday)...which means I end up spending a lot more time in school than I like. Going home is an option but not a very attractive one, because I'd be wasting time travelling. But sitting in the uni lib for 3 hours (split up) is unbearable as well. All I wanna do is SLEEP. I have complained a million times about the ventilation in there...and it still holds true! Sigh. Maybe when it gets warmer, I can sit outside and study too.
