Snow

I like snow for about the first 24 hours...after that, I hate it with a vengeance and don't wanna see it again until next winter. People who have this overly romantic idea of snow have obviously never felt their toes freezing off and their butts/legs/other appendages hurt when they fall down on the slippery ice that inevitably forms. Plus, the black/dark grey sludge that forms is disgusting. And, all forms of transport get delayed. And, if you have a car, you have to scrape the ice off the windshield. So yes, snow is fun, but only if you are going to stay indoors all day and you don't have a car or anything else that could get covered in snow. Or maybe if you want to ski. But I don't know how to ski, so I'll continue having my One Night Stand attitude towards snow...

I am writing this because I just slipped on some stairs at the uni and fell on my butt. I don't actually find it embarrassing to fall in front of so many people...the physical pain is really worse...because you have to get up and continue walking, unless you want your underwear soaked in freezing cold water.

Ah...just found out that my block seminar will be shortened by a week...which means compulsory take-home exam for a 1 CP Schein...ah well...it means more time to study for Czech at least.

Am half done with the Swedish exams. Realised I made some silly mistakes...but I think maybe the teacher will tell me if I failed...I hope so anyway...but actually, I am much more hopeful for Swedish than for Czech. But once Swedish is over on Monday, I will immediately start on Czech revision.

Proof that life never turns out the way you plan it: Marcus might have to work far away from Leipzig/Dresden...like on the other end of Germany...the job market here in Saxony isn't very good. I always assumed things would get better once he passed his exams and could find a new job...but they actually might get worse. Well, nothing is confirmed yet, but I'm just saying that there's this possibility that we might see even less of each other than we already do...and we might not even be able to chat on MSN every day like we have been doing so far. SIGH.

A probably not so long post

A Spanish Tortilla, made by me because I had no idea what to do with 11 expiring eggs and some leftover potatoes. Marcus thought it was quite eggy. Ah well. Maybe I did put 1 egg too many...and good thing he wasn't home when I made it...cos I made his kitchen really messy while trying to flip the tortilla!

Marcus' exam piece...a wooden wheelbarrow! He was the only one who managed to get it together completely within the 7 hours given. I think it's pretty! Hoppy would like to have it as a bed, but Marcus pointed out that I had no space for it in my room. :(

Clear blue skies after the hurricane on Thursday

Russischer Zupfkuchen...Marcus' favourite cake (I think)...we wanted to test if one made from scratch tasted different from one made with a cake mix. Marcus said there was a difference. I haven't eaten enough to tell the diff. But it was nice :) Gonna try something different for my birthday on Sunday.

Hoppy and Hoppilina. Hoppilina has a new dress, which I made from an arm of one of Marcus' T-shirts. Marcus said Hoppilina wanted ruffles at the bottom but sorry, my sewing skills are not so advanced...I sewed on the buttons so it wouldn't look so tubular. Maybe I'll find more buttons to sew on here at home.

This weekend was excellent...it was a nice relaxing one..perfect for getting over the hurricane. Thankfully Dresden and Leipzig got off relatively unscathed. The only thing I saw in Dresden was an upturned bicycle hut. But it was still a traumatic experience.

I headed over to Leipzig after class on Friday. Marcus and I went to watch "Rache ist sexy" (perfect relaxing movie) after we had lunch at McDonalds...I feel so cheated by the Big Rösti! It is a round hashbrown, not a Rösti! But since Marcus didn't know what a Rösti was, he couldn't share in my disappointment...haha..just kidding. After that we went grocery shopping and headed home. We watched one of the Big Unknown DVDs after dinner...man I look gross in the videos...but it was fun to show Marcus parts of Singapore and Beijing.

The next day, Marcus had his exam. The silly boy didn't have breakfast before he left...and was hungry when he got home, about 8-9 hours later...in the meantime, I had breakfast, did the dishes, folded laundry, tried to make the tortilla, revised for my Swedish exam, and cleaned up the kitchen after the mess I made.

Marcus came back with his wooden wheelbarrow and told me about his exam...they were supposed to be given 8 hours, but were only given 7...that is so unfair..but at least he had the most complete one.

We went to the supermarket downstairs because we forgot to buy a few things the previous day. Then we again slacked around and went to sleep early cos he had a very long day.

On Sunday, we went to watch "Das Streben nach Glück" at the same cinema...had popcorn this time...the movie was quite ok...though some bits were kinda random. It's like so American man. But I am really glad I am not one of the homeless people. After that, we went home and had lunch, which was Spaghetti Bolognaise. This time I didn't screw up...and it tasted fine. After that, we baked the cake...while waiting for it to cool, Marcus played World of Warcraft and I revised for Swedish...in between we had ice cream...then the cake...then we played Ligretto..then made dinner, which was also quite nice...I liked the sauce a lot. Then we watched more Big Unknown DVDs...and already it was time to sleep :(

This morning, Marcus let me sleep an hour longer and then drove me to the train station...sigh...another few days without him.
