It was a great weekend! Ruthie came over and we had a lot of fun! She came on Friday evening...it was too cold to do anything else...so we just went back and prepared dinner. We made the chicken pie filling, but this time as a pasta sauce...and I remember to add more salt this time, so it definitely tasted better. The onions were a good addition too...
We spent the whole day out on Saturday...we went to the Kunsthof Passage. It's one of my fave places...just to look at the buildings...but the shops are nice too, even if the stuff they sell is really expensive in general. We took some photos and all. The first time I was there was last year, when we did some filming for the Big Unknown. I was there with Rach and Lee Ting (and Max) at different times. I love the bright and cheery atmosphere there...it looks quite different from the outside and the rest of the Dresden Neustadt.
Then we walked down the Hauptstrasse, where they had a Weihnachtsmarkt. This guy dressed as Santa Claus came over and asked "Do you know who I am?" And I paused a second before stating the obvious. He asked us if we wanted anything from his sack...but before we could get anything, this lady accosted him and demanded to look inside the sack. Haha...he said (this is the Singlish equivalent) "Aiyoh, so kaypoh ah!" But he was otherwise friendly and agreed to take a photo with me...haha.
The Weihnachtsmarkt is a great place for food! Ruth and I got many things and shared them, so we could eat more. We got a pizza-like thing with onions, Frischkäse and Wurst. Then we ate the chocolate the Santa Claus gave us. Then we walked over the Augustusbrücke (I think that's the name of the bridge)and went to the other Weihnachtsmärtke...the one at Münzgasse was horrible...it was really crowded...they can't be having good business, cos everyone's just concentrating on pushing their way to the other side! But we managed to squeeze through in the end and we had this really great bread thing filled with cheese and ham...and though it was kinda expensive, it was really good! It was raining by then though...but it didn't seem like anyone's spirits were dampened. There was a majorly long queue outside the Frauenkirche...as usual, since the dedication service.
We walked on to the Altmarkt, where the 571st Striezelmarkt is...we walked around, soaking in the atmosphere and the rain! We drank hot chocolate..very nice in the cold! And we got Quarkkräppelchen...and then I got a 1/2 metre long Bratwurst...with Senf! Yum! German mustard is the best! Ruth got champignons and I pinched some from her.
After that, we decided to go to the Gemäldegalerie...we had to queue outside for a while, before we could get in...so MANY people! But we made it! The paintings weren't bad, but a lot of them had the same subject or subject matter, so after a while, it got a bit repetitive, I think. But the Sistine Madonna was a really nice painting...worth the entrance fee.
We went shopping after the museum visit...and I got a purple jacket and a pink skirt, which I can't wear till at least Spring next year, but oh well, they were cheap and of quite good quality.
Then, cos my legs were dying, we went home...I made couscous (had to substitute a lot of the ingredients, but ok, not bad in the end) and then we watched "Deutschland Sucht den Superstar"...some were really awful, but there were promising ones too. One of the guys apparently has an arrest warrant out for him. Aiyoh...
Ruth and I in my room
Then we just talked until we fell asleep...but it wasn't very late lah, cos Ruth was taking the 9.08am train...
Sigh...the weekend has come to an end so quickly! But I really should get down to my work too. Am so lagging...
Spent Friday correcting my Hausarbeit...which the prof returned to me without the Schein. He'd marked all the grammatical and spelling errors and he expects me to correct all of them before he gives me the Schein...all this for a paper which doesn't need a grade! I wonder how he'll deal with the next paper, when I need a grade. Another prof is the complete opposite...he didn't even look at my paper...he just gave me the Schein. Have no idea which is better. Both are a little too extreme for my liking though. I wish for something more moderate.
Ok, really should go do something productive now!
