Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

Now I'm flying off on 1st April, instead of 31st March. Not that it's a big deal really. The only problem is that once I land, I have to go back to my hostel, dump my stuff and rush to school to register for my language courses. Sianz. Anyway, one more day to pack or go out, so that's fine with me, really.

Okay, so what've I been doing the past few days?

Wednesday
Went to watch 20.30.40 with my mum and my grandmother. This is like really stupid, but I was actually happy that the lady wanted to check my IC, cos it was an NC-16 film. Well, it's better than being called Auntie. Or, like when I went to this book fair with Shermaine and this stupid woman asked me if I wanted to buy Barney books for "my daughter". I don't know if it was an insult to me or Shermaine, since Shermaine was like 12 or 13. The movie was funny! It was definitely worth the money! Had lunch at Tiong Bahru Plaza, then went home and tried to pack my luggage. Did not look promising. Luggage was half-full already..and I hadn't put the big ticket items in yet!

Thursday
Went to Paragon to have Xiao Long Bao with Zinnia. I've never eaten Xiao Long Bao before this. It was delish! We had ice cream for dessert. That was excellent! Went to my old house to pick up a blanket...and brought back some other treasures as well. The place seriously needs packign though. It's a disaster area!

Friday
Rotted at home for most of the day. Was mostly trying to install stuff on my new laptop. LAN card still didn't work. But my dad solved the problem when he came home, cos he had a newer, more "famous" brand. Yay! Went for dinner with Ranjini and Ruth. Ranj told a lot of lame but funny jokes. She's a genius, man!

Wednesday. Exactly one week before I fly back to Dresden.
What did I do over the weekend?

Saturday
I went to Goethe Institut to see an exhibition of anti-rightwing violence posters. That was super cool. I mean some of the posters were really smart and sharp. Then after that, went to Kino, but didn't buy anything. Went home early, so I asked Kheng Hui over to watch Infernal Affairs, since he's never watched it. Only watched the first one, cos we hadn't too much time.

Sunday
Went to church, and then went to see new laptops. My dad bought the ACER one. But I have a problem with it. Will explain more later. Then in the afternoon, my mum, Shermaine and I went to Westmall to see 5566. We didn't wanna queue up to shake hands with them or anything, so we just watched them from the 3rd floor. The view wasn't bad anyway. Thank God it was in the building, so there was aircon and everything. There was this crazy girl who ran super fast and tried to climb over the scaffolding. She also screamed super loud when it was her turn to shake hands. My mum thanks us for bringing her there to see 5566, cos she wouldn't have gone alone. She was kinda embarrassed to be there, until after she saw that some old lady and some other uncle actually went up to shake their hands. She's funny. She's always telling me to like not be afraid to do stuff, but she finds it embarrassing to buy CDs of people other than Fei Yu Qing.

Monday
Got new laptop out and tried to insert my LAN card. Apparently it's not compatible with Windows XP...well, there isn't any software for Windows XP to install it anyway. Tried searching for the company online..cannot find either. Stupid idiotic outdated internet cable in the hostel! I wasted so much time finding a LAN card with such a connection. Right now, I'm guessing that if even my dad can't find the software to install the card, I'll have to buy a new PCMCIA card with the same "hole" so I can connect the old cable to it. Hopefully it works...but it's a bloody pity, cos my laptop actually has TWO built-in LAN cards already...one normal one and one for wireless LAN. After all that, I went to my grandmother's house. Went to Crystal Jade with my auntie and grandmother. Didn't know "plain" porridge could taste so good! But ate A LOT. Felt like I was gonna explode or something. My grandmother likes stuffing me with food. But as I've heard, so does everyone else's grandma.

Tuesday
Woke up early to go to Sentosa with Lionel. Well, we found out that you can't walk to Sentosa anymore. You'll have to take the bus. Hmm...now the bus will have a monopoly...well, aside from cars and taxis. Walked around Sentosa. Lots of places under construction/reconstruction. Went swimming in my clothes. I don't remember why I like swimming in the sea. The water's dead salty. Then when the salt crystalises, you itch. What a stupid thing to do..go swimming in the sea. Sat the monorail 1 1/2 rounds. It was like super bumpy. Got out at the ferry terminal and got out of Sentosa..on the bus again. Sat the NEL to Punggol. Decided it looked like some really ulu place, so didn't even get out of the MRT station, then took the train back to Dhoby Ghaut. Walked around Plaza Sing for a while. Then went back to my grandmother's house. It was strange. Usually no one calls me on my handphone. Then suddenly I got 3 calls yesterday. Strange. I went to bed super early last night, cos I was feeling dead.
