Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

I know I know, I hardly ever update my blog...but I have really been swamped with work. Everytime I access the website, someone comes along with some work for me. I only have time today cos everyone in the department is at some meeting which they have once or twice a month. Hmm...Alex is back. I wonder if that means that the meeting is over, or that he is so bored that he needs a break. Okay. He left again, which means it was probably a toilet break.

Ruth is gone! *sob* *sob* What am I gonna do without her?? She always rescues me when we get into a rut! Anyway, there's gonna be some long lonely days ahead, considering most of the time I have left here is actually a lot of public holidays and you know, when there are public hols here, EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is closed! I cannot go shopping or whatever. Public hols here are meant to be spent with family and friends... only I have neither here! How??

Anyway, Alex convinced me to call home yesterday, cos he couldn't believe I haven't called home in the 2 1/2 months that I have been here. He told Ruth he thought it was weird that I hate using the phone, since most women absolutely love talking over the phone. Hmm...never mind. Alex has weird ideas. When he treated me to a drink yesterday, he told me that it was only for women cos there are only pix of women on the bottle. I was convinced of the opposite...that they put women on the bottle so that men will buy it, i.e. Beer ads on tv usually have gorgeous babes in swimsuits or whatever. Sex sells, esp for beer and such things, but hmm, I think alcohol has a negative effect on you know what, since it is a depressant. I read some where about how the alcohol gives you the courage to make the first move, but if you drink too much, it all goes downhill from there on end. (excuse the innuendo, please...I didn't mean it THAT way)

HEy hey! Finally back after a long long weekend! Highly exhausted, but really enjoyed myself. Went to Würzburg, a town 1 hour away by train, with my landlady, landlord, their friend and Ruth on Saturday. We visited a few churches and climbed up this terribly high hill to get to a castle. Everytime I thought we got there, we didn't and we had to climb somemore...sigh! But the view was pretty much worth it...except for the slightly foggy weather. I took like half of roll worth of photos at Würzburg...which is a lot, considering I am only on my 4th roll of film after 10.5 weeks! The last two times I came to Germany was for a month each and I used up 4 rolls of film each time, which means 1 roll per week. I suppose it's because I am not here to do sightseeing this time, which is why I haven't taken that many photos.

In the evening, we got a visit from 2 of our seniors who are studying in Germany now: Azman and Poon Li. It was very funny because Azman told Ruth that they would find their own way to my place, but I hadn't given him my address then. Then, when they came, Azman forgot to bring all our telephone numbers! Good thing Ruth called him, if not they'd never have made it to my place. We all stayed over at my place for the night, even Ruth, though she didn't want to stay at first...but we talked for so long that it got too dark for her to go home. Haha. It was so funny listening and telling all those stories!
