Life...and other afflictions

The rantings and uninteresting events of my life

I need time to breathe. I live from day to day...finish one bit of homework..and then move on to the next..and I'm not really even putting in as much effort as I should be. Ugh. But ah well, I am no genius and I will be satisfied with what I can do.

Had a great weekend in Leipzig, even if the weather was crap and I forgot to bring the book I had to read for my Lit lecture. Instead, I bought "Der Gott der kleinen Dinge" by Arundhati Roy for 5 Euros and read it on the train.

I was very happy to see Marcus again..even if we technically hadn't seen each other for only 3 days. We kinda had a mini-adventure when we tried to go to the supermarket. "Tried" is the operative word here because when trying to withdraw cash, he realised he had left his card at the petrol station that afternoon when he went to buy a top up card to call me.

So we drove to the station, which is near his school..there was a jam on the Autobahn...but seeing the Leipzig/Halle airport was cool...the building and the runways are separated by the Autobahn and the planes taxi over the bridge before they can take off. The lights are gorgeous when it's dark!

Thankfully they still had his card. He was a bit puzzled that the woman did not want to check his ID...but relieved that he had gotten it back. We ended up going to this HUGE shopping mall called "nova eventis" which is huge and extravagantly furnished...it reminds me a bit of the revamped Marina Square..huge, white and kind of confusing. Some of the interior architecture and deco was gorgeous...but seriously, it's in kind of an ulu place...so I wonder if the costs incurred are really justified. Still..it's one of those malls which make you go "WOW!". And..the best part? There's a FOOD COURT...yes, you heard me...a FOOD COURT. The deco reminds me a bit of the food court in Jurong Point..the one upstairs. Well, I don't know if it's still there...haven't been to JP in eons...anyway, it's funny because I see a cultural entity and structure that I am familiar with...and yet, the stalls' names read "Currywurst Karl" or "Döner something"...strange.

We walked round and round the place trying to look for Wal*Mart and an ATM. Whoa...it was really huge and confusing. But there were really nice things to see...and apparently some guy was checking me out. But anyway, we finally found Wal*Mart and bought a ton of stuff, including apples and Häagen Daz..Vanilla Caramel Brownie! Marcus bought Strawberry and Cream...and it was really good too...mmmmm.

Ok..then the next day we basically stayed at home the whole morning...dunno doing what. Oh yeah, we went to the supermarket, cos the meat at Wal*Mart did not look very nice. The REWE meat looked way better! Then we went on a walk in the afternoon..in my boots...but somehow I survived. We walked to this Vietnamese wholesale market..which does not sell food but clothes..and tons and tons of similar stuff...it was kinda interesting there...like a clothing labyrinth. And apparently some guy was staring at me so hard that he banged into some woman..(when I say apparently, I mean a certain someone told me this...) After that, we went to the China wholesale market next door which looked a whole lot smaller..and nearly everything was closed. And since we had already walked so far to get there, we decided to go into the furniture showroom (or whatever you call it) as well...there was this chair I really liked...it's nice and soft and makes you sit up straight without you even realising it...there was also a four-poster bed and Marcus and I went around telling each other what we would or wouldn't have in our house. If I had the money, I would have a waterbed, like my parents had. Marcus said he had never tried out a waterbed...and lo and behold, just as we turned the corner, there was a waterbed display..so we just lay on them and tested them...it was really quite satisfying..but waterbeds costs a bomb. A single-sized bed costs 999 Euros already...can you imagine what a double or queen-sized bed would cost? And Marcus said he'd want a bed that was at least 160 cm wide. Oh, and there were apparently more guys who were staring. So I guess my tip is, if you don't want guys to check you out, do not wear a low cut top when you know there are going to be a lot of guys around...either that, or you don't see if for yourself, your jealous boyfriend might just be imagining things. Haha.

We tried to watch "The Wedding Crashers" but fell asleep about halfway..so we watched the rest the next morning. We ended up staying in the whole day on Sunday and just spent the time chatting. As Marcus said, we never did really get out of bed that day, his bed being the sofa. It was really fun...I mean because if you really like someone's company, I guess you don't mind even if you don't do something all the time.

Ok, it's late and I should be going to sleep...been stressed out over my non-functioning printer since Monday..but that's another story...right now, I just wanna fall into bed and not think about the ton of chocolate and canned peaches (and all the other crap) I have imbibed and which have caused me to gain 1.5kg within a day.

Tomorrow's another day and Marcus is coming over because his school is being renovated. I wish I could fastforward to tomorrow evening!

In case you're wondering why I don't have photos this time...I actually do..but since Marcus did not gel his hair the whole weekend, I doubt he wants me to put up the photos of him. But I will put up one of me and Hoppy, who went to Leizpig to visit Marcus.
